In-Person Blended Learning Course - High Point - Attendee Registration
NCRPA will be hosting an Aquatic Facility Operator In-Person Blended Learning course in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association. The AFO Blended Learning Course combines the AFO online learning course, an in-person training with an AFO Instructor, and the exam is administered at the end.
The AFO certification provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date training on operations, mechanical systems, water chemistry, disinfection, safety, and much more. AFO certification will help you or your staff better understand the entire pool system and run all types of aquatic facilities safely, efficiently, and confidently.
Who should attend? This course is ideal for professionals responsible for the operation, maintenance, and safety of aquatic facilities, including aquatic facility operators and managers, pool supervisors and coordinators, parks and recreation staff overseeing aquatic programs, maintenance and facilities personnel working with pools and water features, lifeguard supervisors and head guards, new and experienced aquatic professionals seeking certification or recertification, municipal, school, YMCA, and private aquatic facility staff, and anyone responsible for water quality, mechanical systems, or regulatory compliance.
This training is suitable for both seasoned professionals and those new to aquatic facility operations who want to strengthen their knowledge and confidence.

CEUs: The course has been pre-approved for 1.5 CEUs. Participants must complete the online learning course and attend the in-person training to receive the 1.5 CEUs. For more info visit the NRPA website.
Mailing Address: Course materials will be sent via US Post Office. Please be sure to enter a valid address when registering. This address must have a mail receptacle for the Post Office to deliver. NCRPA is not responsible for undelivered materials due to inaccurate addresses. Course materials returned to NCRPA due to an inaccurate address will be charged $10 to cover the additional expense.
Cancellations & Transfers: Cancellation deadline: April 13, 2026
- Refund before study materials are mailed = $335 for course and exam
- Refund after study materials have been mailed - $280 for course and exam, Additional refund may be available for unopened study materials
- Refund for exam only = $70
- Registration transfers are encouraged and will be allowed up to three weeks before the start of the course. The original applicant is responsible for getting the study materials to their replacement.
- “Refunds for the course will not be issued once the AFO Online Learning Course is started”.

Preparation: It is extremely important that you read the course materials before attending the class. Failure to study the materials before the course commonly leads to failure of the exam. Participants MUST complete the online learning course before the in-person instructor training. Once they have completed the course, they will receive a completion email that can be sent to the Host for verification before coming to the in-person instructor training. Please send your verification to Brad Foster at Brad@ncrpa.net Candidates sitting for the AFO certification examination must be 18 or older and have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
Class Size: Space is limited to 25 participants. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. If the minimum is not reached, you will be notified 30 days in advance for cancellation of the course.

In-Person Training with AFO Instructor
- 7:30-8:30 am Course Participant Check-In
- 8:30 am-12:30 pm AFO Course
- 12:30-1:30 pm LUNCH
- 1:30-2:30 pm AFO Course
- 2:30-5:30 pm AFO Exam
Exam:
The exam will be administered by the course instructor at the end of the in-person training. Three hours are allotted to complete the examination. The instructor will proctor and grade the exams on-site. Results will be provided immediately. Participants are allowed to use the following while taking the exam:
- AFO manual
- Slide calculator that comes with the manual
- Handheld calculator (cell phones are not allowed)
- Scratch paper (should be collected and added to the exam packet upon exam completion)
Exam Schedule:
- 1:30-2:30pm Check in
- 2:30-5:30pm 3-Hour Certification Examination
- The exam is paper/pencil and administered by the AFO Instructor. Results are provided immediately
Hotel Information: Visit High Point provides a link to hotels in the area. NCRPA does not have a room block at any hotel.
