Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course - Salisbury - Attendee Registration

NCRPA will be hosting a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification course in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association. The purpose of the CPSI certification is for those certified to be able to: identify hazards on playground equipment and the playground; rank the hazards according to injury potential; and apply the knowledge to remove the hazards and establish a system of inspections and maintenance.

This course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification & risk management methods offered. Advanced reading and 10 hours of training will prepare you for the Certified Playground Safety Inspector Exam scheduled at the culmination of this certification course.

Who should attend?  Architects, contractors, inspectors, planners, builders, engineers, grounds and maintenance staff, playground equipment manufacturers, playground operators and caretakers, public works and risk managers and summer camps, day camps & daycare centers

CEUs: The course has been pre-approved for 1.5 CEUs - .8 CEU for Group A and .7 CEU for Group B towards CPSI renewal for those with a certification renewal date of July 1, 2026 or later.  For more info visit the NRPA website or a fact sheet provided by NCRPA.

Shipping Address:  Course materials will be sent via USPS. Please be sure to enter a valid address when registering.  This address must have a mail receptacle for the Post Office to deliver.  NCRPA is not responsible for undelivered materials due to inaccurate addresses.  Course materials returned to NCRPA due to an inaccurate address will be charged $10 to cover the additional expense. 

Cancellations & Transfers: Cancellation deadline: February 13, 2026 

  • Refund before study materials are mailed = $590 for course and exam and $470 for course only
  • Refund after study materials have been mailed - $310 for course and exam and $190 for course only,  Additional refund may be available for unopened study materials
  • Refund for exam only =  $100
  • Registration transfers are encouraged and will be allowed up to three weeks before the start of the course. The original applicant is responsible for getting the study materials to their replacement.  
  • Cancellation requests and transfer requests must be made in writing to michelle@ncrpa.net. 
  • Requests must be made by February 13, 2026
  • Please note this is not NCRPA's normal cancellation/refund policy.

 

Preparation: It is extremely important that you read the course materials before attending the class.  Failure to study the materials before the course commonly leads to failure of the exam.

Class Size:  Space is limited.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  If the minimum is not reached, you will be notified 30 days in advance for cancellation of the course.

Hotel Information:  Visit Rowan County provides a link to hotels in the area.  NCRPA does not have a room block at any hotel.

Special Accommodations Requests: A candidate who has a disability may request a special accommodation; the request must be submitted in writing at the time of the course or exam registration. In order to properly accommodate all persons with disabilities it is recommended that all requests be made 45 days prior to the scheduled date for the course and exam.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Requests: English as a second language (ESL) candidates may request a time extension and/or the use of a strict translation dictionary. Candidate's request forms/fees must be submitted to NRPA no less than 30 days prior to the exam. The request form is available online at www.nrpa.org/cpsi.

Computer-Based Testing: The option to take the CPSI exam via computer-based testing is available through the NRPA. To obtain additional information please visit www.nrpa.org/cpsi Please be advised if you register to take the examination with the course, you will not receive a refund to take your exam via computer-based testing at a later date. Please decide now if you would like to take the exam on Day 3 of the course or via a computer-based exam at a later date.  Please notify Michelle@ncrpa.net by February 3, 2025 if you prefer this option.
