July is Park and Recreation Month 

It is July which means its Park and Recreation Month, and NCRPA is following the lead of our friends at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and challenging everyone to get their play on with their local parks and recreation.

NCRPA is celebrating with by "running" its fourth annual #ParksBaton. Follow along at as NCRPA members highlight how their department is Getting their Play On this July! We have filled all the spots to carry the #ParksBaton in July, but we have decided to continue the fun through the summer. If you would like to sign up to carry the baton be sure to visit and get on the list. 

#PlayOnJuly Networking Events

NCRPA will also be celebrating Park and Recreation Month with fun networking events across the state at the end of the month. We hope you can join us at one of our events to network with your peers and celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. 

Charlotte: July 26th 6pm-8pm - @NODA Brewing 

Greensboro: July 31st 6pm-8pm - @Pig Pounder Brewery

Also, to celebrate Park and Recreation Month, NRPA is hosting a weekly contest encouraging people to share why play is so important in their lives. Visit for more information on how to participate. Entries can be submitted using the hashtag #NRPAPlayChallenge. NRPA also encourages all people that support parks and recreation to share why they think play is so important with the hashtag #PlayOnJuly.  Be sure to check out NRPA's infographic highlighting the importance of play for people of all ages.
