Happy Monday!

Last week I had the pleasure to attend the Athletic Directors Workshop in beautiful and historic Wilmington, North Carolina. The sessions during the three days included topics such as: injury prevention in youth sports, conflict and crisis management, as well as multiple open discussions among the attendees. All of the topics were extremely informative and resourceful to be part of.

One session that seemed to motivate the audience the most was when head Coach Adell Harris, from the UNCW women’s basketball program, presented as the lunch keynote speaker. Coach Harris has an impressive basketball history, as she is a former collegiate athlete at Wake Forest and past head coach for Tusculum College. She made it very clear though that she was not there to discuss her stats. My current blog discusses her inspiring speech at the conference and how we can create a common goal to continue to promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle across the state. Please note our next webinar will take place on Thursday, October 8th, at1:00pm. Derek Dunn and Sharon Williams, Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department, will be hosting the session. The topic will focus on creating a more inclusive outdoor recreation environment for persons with disabilities. It is important to offer equal opportunities for everyone, and as practitioners, part of our tasks is creating the ultimate recreation experience. Please click the following link to register:
