March 18th, 2015

This month Let’s Move has announced the #GimmeFive challenge for National Nutrition Month. The idea is to motivate families to come up with five new meals to help nourish their own family and friends within the community. Let’s Move is using social media to increase awareness by asking members to share their health creations using the hashtag #GimmeFive on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram. Social media is a perfect way to tap into your creative side and share ideas for nutritious meals that look and taste great.

My recent blog discusses how your department can encourage members of the community to become part of the #GimmeFive challenge. The key is finding ways to inspire and motivate your communities to spread the knowledge and power of healthy eating. If you have any #GimmeFive program ideas, please email us or submit them on the wellness site here: (,

Our next webinar will be hosted by Ellis Hamburger, social media specialist for Snapchat, Inc., New York City. His webinar will focus on connecting your departments with helpful exercise, eating and nutrition smartphone apps that can be easily shared with participants in your programs. The webinar will be on March 25th,at 1:00pm.
