February 22, 2016

Happy Monday,

I hope everyone is doing well today! The transition between the winter and spring months can be at times difficult and unpredictable to dress for, especially when heading out the door for a walk or run. My current blog this week discusses some easy tips to share with your community and department when it comes to preparing for an outdoor workout during this time of year! Ready my blog for more information. Additionally, refer to Active, which provides great suggestions to help ensure your runs are not only safe and enjoyable, but also continue to motivate you to be actively engaged in the outdoors.

On another note, our March Wellness Webinar will be hosted by Jennie Sumrell, Director of Education at PlayCore. She will be discussing ways to attract more children and families to local community trails and parks. The webinar is designed to explore best practices for intentionally infusing play into outdoor environments in an effort to promote family fun, encourage healthy physically activity, and reconnect people of all ages to nature. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00pm. To register please click the link:

NC Recre8’s statewide 5k is excited to announce registration is now live! The race will take place on Saturday, April 16, at various locations across North Carolina. Click the following link for more information and to check if there are any race locations by you:

If you would like to share your ideas regarding outdoor winter and spring workouts, please email us or submit them on the wellness site here:(,
