NCRPA will be hosting a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification course in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association. The purpose of the CPSI certification is for those certified to be able to: identify hazards on playground equipment and the playground; rank the hazards according to injury potential; and apply the knowledge to remove the hazards and establish a system of inspections and maintenance.

This course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification & risk management methods offered. NCRPA will be hosting a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification course in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association. The purpose of the CPSI certification is for those certified to be able to: identify hazards on playground equipment and the playground; rank the hazards according to injury potential; and apply the knowledge to remove the hazards and establish a system of inspections and maintenance.

Due to the current pandemic, all CPSI courses are being held virtually in a blended learning format.  Attendees will have 12 hours of course work to complete independently before the virtual learning session with an instructor.  


CPSI Blended Course – Program Overview

  • Participants must have a unique email address; they can not share email addresses. This email will be used to register them for the course and examination.
  • Participants must complete CPSI Online Learning portion (12 hours) of the course by no later than 24 hours before the CPSI Virtual Learning Session.  Students will work through this portion at their own pace.
  • CPSI Virtual Learning Session will include CPSI Instructor information review and questions/answer section.  This is a 4 hour course and will be scheduled during the course dates of October 13-15.
  • Internet connection is required to access the study sessions and virtual  learning with instructor.
  • Participants must complete both the CPSI Online Learning course and the CPSI Virtual Learning Session to receive CEUs.
  • The course has been pre-approved for 1.5 CEU’s.
  • CPSI course materials will be mailed to the address provided when payment has been received.
  • Examinations will be completed via computer-based examination at PSI Professional Testing sites upon completion of the CPSI Online Learning Course and CPSI Virtual Learning Session.
  • CPSI course materials will be mailed to each student upon paid registration
  • Refunds for course will not be issued once the CPSI Online Learning Course is started.
  • Candidates sitting for the CPSI certification examination must be 18 or older and have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Exam:  NRPA is now offering the CPSI examination via Live Remote Online Proctoring. Professionals can now take the examination from a secure, quiet location (i.e. home office or office) with a compatible computer, webcam, microphone and speakers. The exam will be proctored by an online proctor who will require a 360 view of their space and be observing through webcam the entire examination.

Architects, contractors, inspectors, planners, builders, engineers, grounds and maintenance staff, playground equipment manufacturers, playground operators and caretakers, public works and risk managers and summer camps, day camps & daycare centers

 

Registration Fee:  $525. Fee included online courses, manuals and exam fee.

Deadline to register is September 11 - NO EXCEPTIONS. Cancellation deadline is September 14.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests made on or before 9/14 will be subject to a $150 cancellation fee. Study materials do not need to be returned if they have been shipped prior to cancellation.)   Once a participant starts the NRPA online Prep Course, NO refunds will be provided. Due to NRPA logistics and testing Center requirements, substituting another student is not available for this online course format.  Cancellation requests should be sent to Michelle@NCRPA.net
