Leadership and Organization Development Series 


NCRPA is excited to partner with Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources to bring a unique training opportunity to members later this month. Raleigh is bringing Dr. Mitch Owen a nationally recognized speaker to present a series of sessions March 26th and 27th.  Dr. Owen has extensive knowledge and experience in training staff on leadership, change, innovation, team dynamics, and dealing with difficult situations.  He has worked with many organizations, businesses, and individuals from across the country.  Dr. Owen is a regular presenter at Oglebay, and comes highly recommended by those who’ve seen him present.  You can learn more about Dr. Owen at:


For each session, Raleigh has made 30 seats available for NCRPA members to attend. If you would like to attend,  please register ASAP, but no later than March 18, 2019– First Come, First Served. Members can register for one, two, or all three sessions. 


Member Cost: $25 per session.  0.2 CEUs will be awarded for each session. LUNCH IS NOT PROVIDED


Session 1: Crafting Dynamic Team Discussions

Learning Outcomes

1. Participants will learn the key principles to facilitating group sessions.

2. Participants will learn techniques for dealing with difficult team members.

3. Participants will learn to facilitate small group brainstorming and decision-making.

Session 2: Leading People & Situations When Things Get Difficult.

Wednesday March 27, 2019  8:30am-12:00pm .02 CEUS

Learning Outcomes: 

1. Participants will learn the basic principles of working with difficult people.

2. Participants will develop skills for handling difficult situations.

3. Participants will apply skills in dealing with difficult situations.


*** This session will focus on:

Theory and Concepts Important in Relationships

Four principles to a successful resolution of conflict

Tools and techniques important to navigating difficult situations


Session 3: Leading Change & Innovation

Wednesday March 27, 2019  1:00pm-4:30pm .02 CEUS

Learning Outcomes: 

1. Participants will understand key principles of change and innovation.

2. Participants will learn and apply a community-based model for developing and implementing change initiatives.

3. Participants will understand the key processes of strategic positioning.

4. Leadership Assessment ISI.

NCRPA offers members a discounted rate on most educational workshops.  To receive this rate, you must first log into your membership account and then register for the event.  If you register at the nonmember rate and pay by credit card, we will gladly refund the difference minus a $5 processing fee.  If you need a refund or assistance with any registration please email
