2015 is underway and the wellness initiative has fresh ideas and information to motivate your community to stay active and healthy during the New Year!
This week we have a guest blogger! Aaron Davis, Athletic Supervisor from Graham Recreation and Parks, discusses how his department has had success creating healthy food options with concession stands. Last spring The Graham Recreation and Parks Department was the recipient of a Healthy Eating Equipment from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation. Graham’s goal was to increase access to healthy food and beverages by changing their policy to provide healthy food, beverages and snacks in all concession areas. Graham used funds for the grant to purchase the equipment and signage needed to effectively promote and sell these healthier options. Aaron’s hope is to motivate communities to exchange the unhealthy food for more nutritious options.
