Happy Monday,

Tomorrow is the beginning of March, which means one step closer to spring and Daylight Savings Time (Sunday, March 13th). Along with the extra daylight and warmer weather, March is also known as National Nutrition Month!

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has ways for your department to get involved to help increase awareness of making informed food choices and develop sound eating and physical activity habits. My current blog provides information which will hopefully inspire year-round dedication to healthy habits and an improved lifestyle. The goal is to create opportunities to teach our communities, departments and families’ easy ways they can start to make improvements to their nutrition and ultimately lead a healthier way of life. Read my current blog to gather tips and ideas for your department to become actively involved in National Nutrition Month. For additional information on National Nutrition Month, please click here.

Our March Wellness Webinar will be hosted tomorrow at 1:00pm by Jennie Sumrell, Director of Education at PlayCore. She will be discussing ways to attract more children and families to local community trails and parks. The webinar is designed to explore best practices for intentionally infusing play into outdoor environments in an effort to promote family fun, encourage healthy physically activity, and reconnect people of all ages to nature. To register please click the link:

NC Recre8’s statewide 5k is excited to announce registration is now live! The race will take place on Saturday, April 16, at various locations across North Carolina. Click the following link for more information and to check if there are any race locations by you:
