Thank you for your interest in being a part of the inaugural NCRPA Recre8 5k we are excited to partner with you and other departments around the state for this exciting event. Our slogan is 1 state, 1 race, in your community at your park! This statewide 5K will help raise awareness of parks and recreation in North Carolina in addition funds raised will support the advancement of recreation in our state. The 5K events will increase awareness of NCRPA and agency members across the state through marketing each event, while furthering the mission of the organization. 5K events are fun and can promote an active outdoor lifestyle. Through the Wellness Initiative, NCRPA has identified the importance of wellness and its relation to parks and recreation. NCRPA is aware that many departments have planned and implemented many successful 5K events. However, we also understand that this might be a new venture for some agencies. The planning kit will be sent to all host that will include tools and suggestions to help the local host have a successful event.
Who: NCRPA, local and state parks.
What: A 5K race!!! Additionally, local hosts will have the option to host coinciding events, festivals and more.
When: April 16th 2016 at 9:30am – Raindates TBD
Where: Events will take place statewide at local parks, greenways, trails and community centers. All events will be required to start, end, have a rest station, or take place entirely at a parks and recreation facility.

Tools for Local Hosts
Approximately 1 year prior to event NCRPA to provide: 5k HOST KIT and initial promotional materials.
Kit to include: Planning a 5K how-to, tools for mapping, info on certifying your course, marketing tools and posters, sample staff plan, event FAQ, publicity templates, event planning check list, , local sponsor packet, press release templates timeline and things to consider.
2 weeks prior to event, NCRPA to provide: list of pre-registered participants, on-site registration materials, participant t-shirts, race numbers, branded banners and signs.
Post-event, NCRPA to provide: post-event report, survey results and shared revenue (if applicable).
Cost to participate: Attendee registration: $35 (includes t-shirt and giveaways)
On-site/late registration: $45 (t-shirts not guaranteed)
NCRPA covers cost of per race: Supplies per event est. $600 (banners, posters etc...)
+ cost per racer: est. $15-$17 (Pays for: medals, t-shirts, race numbers, timing)
NCRPA will order and ship all items to host sites.
NCRPA costs does not cover site-specific costs. (Staff, rentals, security, supplies etc…)
Host site stipends/revenue sharing:
0-99 registrants: local sponsor revenue
100-249 registrants: $500 + local sponsors revenue
250-499 registrants: $1000 + local sponsors revenue
500-999 registrants: $2500 + local sponsors revenue
1000+ registrants: $5 per registrant + local sponsors revenue
Timing stipend provided per timed runner upon request ($4 per timed racer)
