Join NCRPA for the 2017 NCRPA Supervisor Workshop in Southern Pines, We are excited to offer a whole new slate of speakers for 2017. The workshop is for any and all supervisors in the field of park and recreation. Sessions will include Creating a Passionate Workforce, Motivating Staff Through Team Building, Are you a leader or manager? Who cares?, and a Panel discussion on leadership.
Cost is $55 for NCRPA members; lunch is included, and attendees will earn up to 0.4 ceus. The sessions will be very interactive and engaging! A second workshop will be offered featuring the same slate of speakers on August 2nd in Statesville.

9:30am -10:45am: Are you a leader or manager? Who cares? - Wade Walcutt - Director, Greensboro Parks and Recreation
Do I manage or do I lead? Who cares? You should! In this fast-paced session, attendees will discuss the finer points of managing and leading. Even though they are similar, they are not the same. Through a variety of successes and even more failures, real life situations will be discussed giving attendees not only a better understanding of the core differences between these two disciplines, but to better define their own tendencies.
10:50am - 12:05pm: Creating a Passionate Workforce - Terri Stowers, Division Director, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation
Why is a passionate workforce so important in today’s world? What can we do as leaders to help our staff identify their passion? How do we develop a workforce that is passionate about our organization? These questions and more will be answered in this session.

12:40pm - 1:55pm: Motivating Staff Through Team Building - Michelle Hepler, Director, Iredell County Parks and Recreation
Attendees will learn the benefits of developing individuals into high functioning teams. Topics will cover the fundamentals of building successful teams – including trust development, the importance of effective communication, and empowering others to utilize their skill sets as resources to the team. Content will identify different types of teambuilding, including goal focused programs, shared experiences, and special events.
2:00pm - 3:15pm: Leadership Panel
Our speakers will share how they have found success in their organization and answer questions from attendees.
