Join the Autism Society of North Carolina for this ½ day workshop that will assist park and recreation staff with identifying the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with emphasis on the ways those features manifest in recreational contexts and solutions to create a positive experience for participants and staff.

NCRPA is partnering with Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources to offer this workshop. NCRPA members are invited to attend this workshop for $25. Attendees can obtain up to .3 ceus for attending, there are only 20 seats so be sure to register early! Join the Autism Society of North Carolina for this ½ day workshop that will assist park and recreation staff with identifying the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with emphasis on the ways those features manifest in recreational contexts.  Learn key strategies to apply to support individuals with ASD in recreational context.  These will include visual schedules and other visual supports, structuring materials and routines to promote participation, and physical structure / environmental program design.  Attendees will take away basic strategies to promote prosocial behavior in recreational contexts.
