Government entities and the communities they serve are exposed to a variety of emergencies, and having a plan for what to do before, during and after an emergency is a critical part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count. The morning session is an introduction to the emergency planning process and critical components of emergency preparedness.   The afternoon will be devoted to Preparing for and Responding to the Threat of an Active Shooter.  Employees in any agency should have the knowledge to increase their awareness level regarding potential violent threats in the work place. Employees should be aware of potential threats, signs of aggression, red flags by co-workers and clients, reporting threats, emergency lock down procedures and what to expect in an active shooter incident involving gunfire, disbelief and panic. While situations we hope we are not faced with, being prepared is essential.
