NC Recreation and Parks Scholarship Foundation
The Foundation was established in 1973 by NCRPA members to promote education of NC students for employment in the field of parks and recreation. The Foundation is a tax-exempt organization whose board of trustees is composed of professional recreation, business people, and interested citizens dedicated to assuring the provision of quality recreation programs, facilities and parks for citizens and visitors throughout the state. Financial support for the Foundation's Trust Fund is derived from contributions and or grants from various foundations, professional organizations, individuals, businesses and industries.
It is the purpose of the NC Recreation and Parks Scholarship Foundation to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to qualified and deserving students who are pursuing an education for a career in the recreation and parks profession and to qualified professionals seeking continuing education for career enhancement. Areas of educational emphasis include, but are not limited to, curricula in municipal and county recreation, local and state parks, therapeutic and forestry.
The NC Recreation and Parks Scholarship Foundation offers 3 categories of annual scholarships. One category is for Undergraduates, another for Graduates and another for Professionals.
